A Maeda mini crane has helped the world��s largest dedicated helicopter museum with two ongoing restoration projects.
The Maeda MC305-2 CRM(E) mini crane was used by the volunteer-run Helicopter Museum in Weston-super-Mare to install major components as part of restoration work on a Westland Wessex HAR Mk 3 anti-submarine helicopter and a Westland Wessex Series 60 helicopter.
Bristol-based Kranlyft UK volunteered the services of the Maeda mini crane, which was used in the museum��s restoration hangar to lift a rotor head onto the Westland Wessex HAR Mk 3 and was then used to lift the instrument panel and cockpit canopy on to the Westland Wessex Series 60.
Both jobs saw the operator employ the Maeda MC305-2 CRM(E)��s remote control, with the rotor head lift carried out with the crane operator working on the helicopter to ensure safe and accurate lifting.
Opened by HRH The Duke of York in 1989, the Helicopter Museum has a collection of over 70 aircraft, ranging from a Russian gunship to a Super Frelon 36-seat helicopter, and from the Queen��s own helicopters to veterans of the Vietnam conflict.
