New UK training and assessment firm IS Training has received accreditation from the Construction Awards Alliance.
IS Training has been accredited as an assessment centre for UK National Vocational Qualifications in the planning and management of lifting operations.
The training centre was established by Ian Fisher, who, for ten years, lead Ainscough Training Services. Fisher represents UK hirer��s group the Construction Plant-hire Association on the management committee of the Construction Plant Competence Scheme.
Training in the UK is based on competence testing. Fisher explains, ��Since the introduction of the Construction Plant Competence Scheme in 2003, thousands of operatives have gained their CPCS red card,�� said Mr Fisher, ��but more NVQ centres are needed to give them opportunity to convert them to blue cards.��IS Trai
The red ��Trained Operator�� card proves to employers that the employee has been trained to the recognised minimum standard on a specific piece of plant. However, CPCS requires that red card holders attain an NVQ and upgrade to the blue ��competency�� card within two years. While red cards expire after two years and cannot be renewed, blue cards are valid for five years and are renewed either by re-assessment or by recording 300 hours relevant experience in the employee��s log book.
