G4S achieves Silver Standard in TFL Freight Operator Recognition Scheme
G4S is among the first 12% of companies enrolled on the scheme to achieve the Silver Standard. The first Gold memberships are expected to be announced in 2011.
The Freight Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) is a free, industry-led voluntary membership scheme that aims to improve freight delivery in London. It¡¯s open to any company operating vans or lorries in the capital, helps companies become even safer and more environmentally-focused (by addressing issues such as collisions and carbon dioxide emissions) and better equipped to deal with the pressures of driving in London.
To achieve the Silver Sandard, G4S Cash Solutions has had to provide ongoing performance data covering the FORS benchmark measures in addition to the requirements of the Bronze level membership.
As well as legal compliance, members are required to demonstrate their commitment to Health and Safety, managing work-related road risk and improving efficiencies.
The scheme covers drivers and driver management, vehicle maintenance, fleet management, transport operations and performance management.
Industry-leading programmesJohn Lennox, the head of fleet management at G4S Cash Solutions (UK), said: ¡°We¡¯re delighted to have achieved Silver Standard membership status of this respected scheme. We operate many vehicles servicing businesses in London every day of the week, and it¡¯s important we lead the way in showing our commitment to implementing industry-leading risk management, Health and Safety and efficiency programmes.¡±
Lennox went on to say: ¡°We can now compare and contrast our performance alongside other freight organisations operating in London and, with the benefits of FORS information and advice, identify ways to become even more efficient and improve our operations still further.¡±
G4S has been realising cash solutions in the UK for 75 years, and provides cash services across London. In total, it has 2,500 operational cash vehicles across the UK.
